Academic Excellence

Our school is proud of its high academic standard and pleasant learning environment. We expect that children who are accepted into our school will maintain the high standards which set our school apart from many others. The school’s academic program has enabled many students to participate in national contests and to be high achievers in high school and in their chosen careers.

Personal Deportment

Prescott Primary Northern has established a strict uniform code and expects children to wear the correct uniform at all times. Students are required to maintain high standards of neatness and tidiness in dress and grooming. Our school has adopted a sun safe policy regarding the wearing of school hats which are worn throughout the year.

Student assessment is on a continuous basis taking into account class work, assignments, tests, participation and attitude.

Social Development and Relationships

At Prescott Primary Northern, students are taught the value of self-worth within a Christian context. The qualities of self-control, self-discipline, tolerance toward others, and the acceptance of responsibility for one’s own actions is promoted.  Habits of courtesy, decorum and graciousness are also strongly emphasised as being part of everyday life.  School uniform details are found in the School’s Student Handbook.

Physical Achievement

A high standard of achievement in physical areas is consistent with the school’s philosophy of excellence in all areas, and contributes to a holistic lifestyle. All students are expected to participate in the sport program, which allows students to develop skills in a variety of individual and team sports.

Parental Involvement

The school encourages the participation of parents in its education programmed. Parents help with reading, maths, art, craft, and cooking. Some of our parents are able to assist during class excursions and also provide other services such as piano playing for music groups, library assistance and specialised sports coaching. In order to assist in any of these areas a Police Clearance is compulsory.

Community Events Committee

The Community Events Committee is organised and run by parents and fosters close relationships between the school and the home. Functions are conducted to provide opportunities for all parents to participate in the life of the school.

Gifted and Talented Students

Children with specific gifts and talents are supported to develop these abilities at their own rate of achievement.

Week night home work is structured from 10 minutes to 45 minutes, Monday to Thursday night depending on age and grade. The Student Handbook will provide you with more information about the school’s homework policy.
